It’s been an incredible journey in Nursery. The learners have developed into such curious, confident and resilient learners. It has been a pleasure to observe. The Nursery learners should be proud of all that they have achieved. We wish the learners the very best in their learning journey. Thank you for being such a wonderfully supportive Nursery community. Have a fantastic holiday!
Ms Kerstin & Ms Katie
We can't believe the year is at an end! We have been so lucky to be part of all the Kindergarten learners amazing journeys this year. They leave us as more independent learners, who show a great curiosity for the world they live in. They are ready for the move up to Year 1, ready to take risks in their learning and play in a new learning hub, with new expectations and challenges. We wish all of our learners a restful holiday, and look forward to hearing how well they all settle into Year 1 in August.

Phase Leader Nursery & Kindergarten
We have had a wonderful few weeks wrapping up our celebrations Unit of Inquiry! This is such a lovely unit to end the year on. Although we were not able to have all the learners on campus, they have all been able to participate in lots of engaging activities to further their understanding. We do hope they will be able to plan a small party at home during the holiday!
We have also spent the last couple of weeks thinking forward to next year and reflecting on what we have achieved since joining Year 1. It really has been amazing to see the progress made by all learners and we are incredibly proud of them. Thank you to all our families for supporting us in our home learning activities throughout the year and for being fabulous! We wish you a wonderful break. We would also like to say farewell to some of our families who are leaving us this year. We wish you all the best in your next adventures!

Congratulations Year 2 learners on a fantastic year of learning! The advice you have written over the past week for the Year 1 learners coming up to Year 2 shows us just how far you have come and how ready you are for Year 3. Although the end of term wasn’t what we hoped it would be, we certainly made the best of the situation. We have loved seeing your smiling faces online, the enthusiastic sharing of ideas and the creative Seesaw presentations.
A huge thank you to our wonderful parents for all the help and support given throughout the year. We wouldn’t see the progress made without you! We send our best wishes for the learners who are leaving us and look forward to seeing our returning learners in August.

Year 2 Leader
What a year it has been in Year 3! We are so proud of how far the learners have come this year and watching the amazing ‘memory book’ videos they have created has been a great reminder of all of the learning and fun we have had. The last two weeks of Off-Campus Learning have flown by with the learners participating in Random Acts of Kindness, postcard writing, book recommendations and of course more detective work using their maths skills to find the throne thief. The Year 3 team has thoroughly enjoyed working with this great bunch of learners. They have an energy, passion and enthusiasm for learning which will serve them well as they move onto Year 4.
A final thank you to all of the families of Year 3. You have been amazingly supportive through all of the challenges of this year. To those who are leaving us at the end of the year, we wish you best of luck in your new adventures and to those who are staying, enjoy the break and we will see you in August.

Year 4 learners, you have been a fabulous group of learners who have been an absolute pleasure to work with this year. You have come to school every day with smiles and a positive approach to the day. We have seen you grow as learners (and in height!) , take on more responsibility and develop your understanding of the world around you. You have been great friends to each other and shown support and kindness to others in the year group. A big 'THANK YOU' to each and every one of you for your enthusiasm, energy, commitment and compassion. All the Year 4 staff wish you all the very best in Year 5. To our Year 4 learners who are sadly leaving Nexus, we wish you all the very best in your new schools.
We would also like to thank all our Year 4 families for their support over the year We have been especially grateful to your encouragement for the children during the period of Off-Campus Learning.

Congratulations Year 5 learners on the most amazing year. We hope you are very proud of your achievements. It has been a blast. Thank you for your energy and perseverance to improve in everything that you do. We wish you well as you transition to Year 6. Please say 'hi' as you walk past next year. Lastly, have a restful and relaxing holiday break. Remember to include some 'green' and 'blue' in every day. This might be biking in the park, swimming in a pool or taking time for a walk to just breathe and have fun.
Thank you to our families for your support. It has been pleasure to share our year with you all.

The end of Primary School is finally here for our Year 6 Learners. The year has been a challenge, however we have stuck together through thick and thin. Great friendships have been made which will allow everyone to move forwards with confidence towards their next adventure. The Year 6 team wish everyone the very best next year. We will see some of you travel the spaces at Nexus. For others we say goodbye and hope that every year you have is better than the last.

Year 7
In unprecedented times, Year 7 have successfully smashed their transition into secondary school with fun, enthusiasm, open minds, and heaps and heaps of resilience. Beginning with a historic online transition day, the very first of its kind in Nexus history, our learners have shown their incredible adaptability when faced with adversity and uncertainty. Despite the strict regulations, the one metre distancing, the mask wearing, the sanitising and the bow tie desk formations (!), our learning, our relationship building and our caring for others in our community has remained as strong as ever. From dressing as zombies and dancing to Thriller, performing music recitals in our ‘lessons without walls’, pushing themselves beyond their personal boundaries in cross country, taking action to care for the most vulnerable in our wider community at Christmas time and becoming rock stars at Nexus Beats; this first year of secondary school has truly been of epic proportions. As you move into Year 8, we could not be more proud of the mature, independent and unique young adults you are becoming. When we reflect on the state of the rest of the world, and compare our circumstances and experiences to that of others, we really do have to remain thankful for the happy memories and successes that we have created and have been fortunate enough to share.

Year 8
Despite the strict regulations, the one metre distancing, the mask wearing, the sanitising and the bow tie desk formations, the Year 8 cohort has really impressed me with how they have taken it all in their stride. Their learning, their relationship building and their caring for others in our community has remained strong and developed even further. From dressing as book characters, performing at poetry slams or Nexus Beats, building dwellings in favela for Global Goals week and casting spells in English for Halloween, it’s been quite the year. It has been so pleasing to see the cohort continue to participate in their sporting, and musical endeavours outside of the classroom as well take their academic development to the next level inside our classrooms. I look forward to you all continuing your learning journey in Year 9 in preparation for your transition to the IGCSE programme in a year's time. I also encourage you all to look for other opportunities that will become available to you next year such as the school's Duke of Edinburgh International Award.
Year 9
As a cohort, Year 9 can be very proud of all they have achieved in this very challenging year. It has been filled with so many achievements both inside and out of the classroom. Whether it was the Bhangra drumming that welcomed the school community along the Nexus walkway to celebrate Deepavali or performing Shakespeare in the Tree House for English, it was all top quality. Your teachers were also very impressed with the way in which Year 9 approached the recent trial examinations and how they have conducted themselves last week. This was fantastic preparation for their IGCSE programme next year and the experience will be hugely beneficial as they embark on that journey.
All
We would like to wish those learners and families leaving our phase all the best for their next chapter. Thank you for everything you have brought to our community in your time here. Take care, go well and keep in touch. And of course we look forward to welcoming the majority of you back to campus in August.
Take time to rest, recover and recharge over the break and do your favourite things. Please keep in touch with your peers (and your family...talk face to face often). Stay safe. We’ve got this!

Phase Leader Y7 to 9
Looking back on another disrupted academic year, I cannot help but be impressed and a little surprised by how well our learners and wider community have handled everything. From working under social distancing regulations to the cancelled activities, trip and the uncertainties of examinations to the final weeks of home based learning our learners have taken it all in their stride showing remarkable resilience. They have struggled, excelled and supported each other through all the up and down as they navigated uncertainties both inside and outside of school.
All the hard work from the Y11s and their teachers was not in vain as they were able to sit the Cambridge examinations. Their coursework for all their relevant subjects have been submitted to the exam boards. I think they have earned a well deserved break! Assuming there are no delays, the results should be published online by Cambridege and Edexcel exam boards around the first week of August. Learners can access their results online with the details provided. Physical certificates can be collected from school once they arrive usually towards the end of August for our Y11 learners. For families leaving Singapore, please leave a forwarding address with student services so that we can forward the IGCSE certificates to you.
We were able to successfully run and complete the Trial examination process for the Y10s. For many learners’ this is their first taste of formal examinations. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience and get first-hand experience of how to prepare for formal examinations. Now is the perfect time to take stock with their teachers and reflect on their progress so far at the half waypoint. Time to set some goals for next year!
Finally, I would like to thank all the tutors, teachers and parents for your work and the support offered to our learners. As the saying goes it takes a village and especially in these uncertain times it is even more important to have a good support network in place. The IGCSE is a challenging 2-year course having the right support along the way will make a huge difference to the final outcome. I wish everyone a happy, safe and relaxing break!
See you all in August.

Our Year 12 and 13 learners have had another fantastic year with lots going on as usual. We have celebrated continued success for both of our Junior Achievement companies, Revival (News flash below) and Scrapcap both achieving further awards. Our small and personalised vertical tutor groups have thrived under the guidance of our IB tutor teachers. Our PSHE program has covered a broad range of topics, such as mindfulness, health and fitness, study skills, preparing for life after Nexus, to name but a few. Our amazing IB learners are thankful for their amazing penthouse common room and continue to use it effectively. Goodbye and Goodluck to our graduates in Year 13, you will all be missed.

Revival Update...
I'm sure you all remember Revival, the Junior achievement company that made bags from recycled cannas banner. Last year they won 'Company of the Year- Singapore' and an all expenses paid trip to Guam which went online due to Covid, they won to become 'Company of the Year- Asia Pacific'.
This week the results were announced for the world final, Europe was the winning team, however, all five runners up were awarded US$5,000. A massive congratulations to them all! Not the result we wanted but an incredible achievement to have made it to the world finals.
See their fantastic final 3 minutes video below.
Graduation this year was was hosted by graduates Karolina and Paloma online on June 4th. The online event featured invited speakers and awards presented for Innovation, CAS, Academics and to recognise those of us who have been incredible team players, bringing everyone together in the year group. The online platform allowed for so many to express their thoughts which they may not have had the opportunity to otherwise. It was a special occasion and we are so proud of our graduates. We look forward to hearing more about what you do next as you move on to life after Nexus. Send us updates!
