From our
Heads of Primary & Secondary

Dear Parents and Guardians.

Whilst it has not been the end of year that we had hoped for, it has been great to see the learners and staff continuing to work together and draw to a close this part of the learning journeys.

There have been numerous highlights over these final two weeks. Do take time to view the Recent Events section to see all that has been happening on and off campus. The highlights of course, our the Year 13 Graduation and the Year 6 PYP Exhibition. These were both very special events that mark key moments in the school our learners' lives. At both events, it was wonderful to see such confident and articulate young people reflecting on their learning journeys and excited by the opportunities that await them.

During this challenging time, when the community is not able to come together, we would like to thanks the Arts teams for their efforts in connecting the community through the stunning online Primary School Art Splash Exhibition (showcasing a range of artworks by every learner) and the reprise of Everyone Can Sing! with hundreds of our community coming together to 'Reach for the Stars'. See the Arts section to enjoy these wonderful arts events.

At this time in the year we highlight a number of our charity projects, many of which are led by the learners. Take a look at the Recent Events section for updates on Hair for Hope and Climbathon. Our sincere thanks to our community for your support of these extremely worthwhile causes. If you have not already done so, we invite you to make a donation to support the amazing work of these charities.

Looking forward, may we ask that you take a look at the Important Notices section to view the term dates for next year, as well as an overview of the daily timetable. We appreciate all the feedback from our community as we have finalised these arrangements. The section also gives details of access to our online systems over the holiday period.

To close the year, a few words of thanks...

Our heartfelt thanks to Learner Services for all their work supporting our learners and families. We love how they always go the extra mile and always have a smile as they do it.

Thank you to the facilities team, technicians and all our contract staff who help keep the school community safe, clean, fed and transported.

A huge shout out to our wonderful teachers who continue to create exciting inquiry led learning opportunities to engage our learners. You help create the wonderful graduates we have who will take their productive place in a global society.

Thank you to our fabulous Classroom Assistants and counselling team who provide invaluable support for learners and teachers. Your skills and knowledge mean we can achieve so much more in our classes.

Thank you to our learners who inspire us to be the best teachers we can be and make getting out of bed each day to come to work so worthwhile.

Thank you to our parents; without your support and partnership our learners, your children would not become the self-motivated, knowledgable and compassionate people they are.

To all our families we wish you a relaxing holiday and one that sees an easing of restrictions to our daily lives and allows us to reconnect more with friends and family. Farewell to those who will be leaving Nexus at the end of this academic year. We wish you all the best for the next step in your lives. Keep in touch and share with us your adventures.

Finally, from me, Paul, I would like to thank the whole community for my fantastic 8 years as the Head of Primary. It has been a privilege to be part of such an exciting and empowering learning-focused community: a community of education professionals and parents who know that learning can and must look different for our young learners. I will miss you all very much. I will certainly keep in touch and look forward to seeing how the Nexus Way continues to flourish.

With our best regards.

Paul and Dr Heather
