Our lovely Y10 musicians entertained our Secondary Learners in the end of year "Celebration Assembly". It was lovely to see them on stage enjoying music and displaying many of the IB/NEXUS Attributes; confidence, risk takers, commitment and more!
Well done to Leonor, Tomas, Trishan, Alex and Aldo!
Congratulation to Justine Enriquez and Jinguo Liu for their art works being on display at the annual IN Exhibition this year! Participating international schools in Singapore come together to celebrate the artistic achievements of the learners. A big thank you to their teacher Ms. Meher Verghese for her guidance and help in preparing the learners for the show! The event is put on at the Australian High Commission and will be on display until January 18, 2023.
The NEXUS Christmas Fair was a spectacular event and the music department were happy to share the various musical talents and bring our community some Christmas cheer. From Nursery through to Y13 everyone had the opportunity to get involved. Throughout the day events including; Christmas Musical Maestros, Busking in the Eco Cafe, Bands in the MPH, the Pri-Merry Christmas Concert and Nursery/Kindi Christmas Exhibition. Thank you to all learners for getting involved and making music to share and kick start the festive season!
Year 1 Christmas singalong featured our young learners singing fun Christmas Songs with loads of happy smiles and actions! We 'opened' the mini exhibition which showcased our learners exploration of 'recycling' and 'upcycling'. Thank you to many many parents who have attended the mini event. We barely had any seats for parents in the classroom and we're very happy to have made another lovely memories with the Nexus community.
Primary Choir was featured in our 'Sasha' Christmas production! Learners particularly enjoyed being on stage with the cast, singing expressively fun tunes such as Clean Sweep and Mistletoe Ball. We're very excited to have taken part in a sold-out show for two nights in a row. Special thanks to all the lovely young singers who have committed to practicing and exploring stage performance skills. Last but not least, thank you to parents who have brought our lovely young singers and casts to and from home to school. A massive yay!
Christmas isn't Christmas without the festive carols! During last Friday's assembly, Singing Stars and Primary Choir performed a few of these fun carols, and then we invited the whole of Primary to join in on wishing each other a happy Merry Christmas through singing and performing Christmas tunes. Christmas spirit was evidently all around!
During the holiday, if learners are keen to further their Music learning and reflect on how much they've learned, we encourage them to visit Seesaw Music page for vidoes and resources.
Thank you to our fabulous learner musicians and parents for having attended Nexus' annual Carols by Candlelight concert on Wednesday 14 December. The event was sold-out and we were pleased to see many lovely smiles and hear festive Christmas tunes all around the campus. The Music team wish everyone a happy Christmas holidays!!!
Below are a couple of photos however in the new year we will be able to show the official photos by our photographer.
We have edited the video and are happy to share this with our families please feel free to also share the link with your families near and far.
This term rehearsals started for next year's Secondary school production of 'Bugsy Malone'. With a cast of 50+ learners as well as a live band and a team of awesome tech crew, this show is already on its way to delighting the audience with its its spoofy satirical jokes, mind blowing choreography and dazzling costumes!
A huge shout out to the cast and directors who have been giving up their time to get this show rolling. Have a good break and see you next year ready for more!
Friday December 9th saw the year 11 IGCSE Drama learners take to the stage for their final practical performance component of their course. Over the past year and a half these learners have gone from being classmates to a close-knit performance family. This was on full display on Friday evening when they presented their original group works for an audience of parents, staff, friends and members of Nexus SLT. Tyranny, a work exploring political and social oppression, followed two citizens who decided to stand up against their oppressors in the search for freedom, while The Way it Ended, took a look at what happens when people in love are forced apart by differing personal goals. The performers were privileged to receive a thoughtful critique from the wonderfully engaged audience who attended. Thanks go to Mr Zul for his tireless work in supporting Nexus Theatre as well as Ms Kim for serving as a moderator. Last but not least, to the Nexus community who came to support, this means the world to the learners and we hope to see more of you joining us in future.
