It’ s Christmas Eve in Coastal Alaska. Marina and her parents, and her mischievous brother, are hosting a Christmas beach bonfire for their friends. As they enjoy being together at this special holiday time, a special guest, Captain Christmas, arrives! He brings dancing matryoshka dolls and a dancing bear to entertain the children. Marina is gifted a special Nutcracker, painted to look just like the dancing bear! As evening falls and Polaris shines brightly, Captain Christmas gathers the children near the fire to tell a special story of Alaska through the seasons. His story takes them through a springtime meadow of flowers, with a Fireweed Fairy at its center. Hip hopping foxes, crabs en pointe, sea glass, the Summer Solstice Fairy, and of course, leaping fish feature in the story. As Captain Christmas finishes his story, Marina gets her Christmas wish- the first snowfall of the year!
