My name is Scott McNutt, and I will be supporting your student with the Florida Virtual program. I am eager to work with your student, and I am happy to get to know your family.

I will be beginning my 14th year in education and my eighth year at New Vision Charter School. My experience ranged from teaching 7th grade Science, high school physical education, and most recently teaching middle school mathematics at NVCS. I just got my Masters in the Art of Teaching, focusing on curriculum studies and development. That is why it is exciting for me to start a new chapter in my career, working with teachers to develop best practices to support teachers’ philosophies and foster growth with all students.

Melanie is originally from Indiana, but she and her husband moved their family to Colorado in 1992. They officially call both home now! She has previously worked as a Paraprofessional and Teachers Aide in Jefferson and Thomson school districts. This is Melanie’s first year with New Vision where her two granddaughters attend, and she is excited to help with the Florida Virtual School program. Outside of work, Melanie enjoys spending time with her family, especially kayaking, water parks, and Pop Up Drive In movies with her grandchildren.

Erin Larkins Middle School FLVS Teacher Assistant

My name is Erin Larkins and I am going to be working as a Florida Virtual advisor with our amazing middle school students this semester. I have been the 2nd grade TA for 3 years and I am thrilled for the opportunity to work with our older Nighthawks.

This year has been nothing short of crazy but the slower pace allowed me to do what I love most which is camping with my husband and 3 daughters, Kaylee, Maddie and Lexi. Last summer we spent over 30 nights in our camper over summer break going to Mt. Rushmore, Mesa Verde, Moab and a lot of remote places in the mountains.

While I am more than a little bummed that we won't get to work face to face this semester, I am really excited to work together online to make this a memorable and educational one for you. I am here to help with anything you need; homework support, scheduling advice and tips, a friendly face just to chat, you name it.
