When does my child come to the library? Kindergarten through fourth graders see me every week. Fifth graders see me every three days as part of their specials rotation. Sixth graders see me during literacy class once every six days. Seventh and Eighth graders see me once every other week during their literacy class. If you need to know the specific day your child comes please reach out to me or your child's homeroom teacher.
How many books can students check out? Kindergarteners through fourth graders can checkout two books at a time. Fifth graders through eighth graders can checkout three books at a time.
How long can students keep books? Books are checked out for two weeks. Students can turn the books in earlier or extend how long they keep them by renewing the book. I am not worried if a student is a little late turing them in, as long as I am getting them back.
Are late fees given if students turn in a book late? No late fees are ever given.
What happens if a book is lost or ruined? If a book has been damaged please have the student bring it in to me. I can often fix damaged books. If books are damaged beyond repair or lost then a fee will be charged. The fee is based of the amount of money the book cost the school to buy. A form or email will be sent explaining which book needs to be paid for and the cost of it. I send these forms several times a year. You can always contact me as needed to see what books your student has out. All books are due in the beginning of May. I will send home notices of any books that need to be returned or paid for if lost.
When do bookfairs happen? Scholastic Bookfairs will usually be held in November and March in the library. The dates will be announced ahead of time.
Library Rules- In the library I expect students to be Respectful and Responsible. They show Respect by following directions and being kind to others in the library. They are Responsible for taking care of items in the library.
