In our art rooms, our students are expected to follow all policies outlined in the student handbook along with the expectations specific to the art room and studio space. Together, they represent our classroom expectations and helps our students engage with their own learning.
Attitude - You come to class with a positive attitude, ready to give your best effort. Remember, that your best effort is going to look different than your classmates. It's ok if art is not your thing, as long as you're putting your best foot forward each class you will have a great, successful year!
Respect - The art room is a community space, where everyone is welcome, and deserves to feel safe. It is essential that we are respectful to our peers, the adults, and ourselves (sometimes we are our toughest critics)! Respect extends to our projects, materials and the space as well.
Think - Art making is a physical and mental process. It is important to understand, question, demonstrate and reflect on those processes. Our goal is to challenge you to step outside of your creative comfort zone.
Imagine - Creative thinking can open up a world of possibilities. In this class, we want you to be creative and explore. If you have a crazy idea, let me know and we can figure out a way to make it happen!
Spic & Span - Our space is shared with 1/2 of the school population. Making sure we have clean, usable space is vital to our ability to produce art. You are responsible for making sure you clean up after yourself.
Target - Art making can be difficult, especially if it something new to you. It is important to try and give your best effort each time. Following directions keeps us safe, and gives us a chance to stay on task and persist through challenges.
