Mrs. Magness

Elementary Teacher of the Gifted

Mrs. Magness teaches Project Challenge for Newtown Public Schools, working with students at all four of the district’s elementary schools. She received her bachelor's degree from Western Connecticut State University and her master's degree from Sacred Heart University. She began her career as a classroom teacher before joining the Project Challenge team in 2015.

In 2026, Mrs. Magness received the Weller Excellence in Teaching Award for designing and implementing a creativity challenge focused on flexible thinking and original problem-solving. She lives in Trumbull, CT, with her husband and three children.

Mr. Myhill

Intermediate/Middle School Teacher of the Gifted

Mr. Myhill teaches Project Challenge at Reed Intermediate School and Newtown Middle School. He received his bachelor's degree from Western Connecticut State University and his master's degree from Wesleyan University. Since beginning his teaching career in 1988, he has taught across multiple grade levels and subject areas in Newtown Public Schools.

In 1999, Mr. Myhill received the Weller Outstanding Teaching Award for designing and implementing a reading and writing program. He lives in New Milford, CT, with his wife and their wheaten terrier, Ella.
