ERASMUS PLUS E PROGETTI INTERNAZIONALIZZANTI

One Month in the Netherlands!

Last November I was given an awesome opportunity thanks to the school’s  ERASMUS+ accreditation:I went to the Netherlands for a month with two school friends, and  for an Erasmus Long Term mobility.

To be selected to take part in this project, we had to fill out a questionnaire, with the our school marks, some information about ourselves, and a motivational letter. We were placed in a ranking list with other students, who were applying. We three were really excited and surprised when we found out that we had been chosen, first to host and then to travel.

First of all, we had to host our Dutch partners here on Long term mobility for seven weeks, from the 6th of November till the 24th of December. That gave us a chance to get to know each other. Then, on the 22nd of January, our plane to the Netherlands took off at 6.30 a.m. and our travel experience began.

The first week in the new school, RSG SLingerbos in Harderwijk, we were with a teacher and five other students, with whom we did a lot of activities to help us settle in. We  had a great time, but it was also the most difficult period, because I had to change my habits and deal with all the cultural differences. But I was lucky because my host family really helped me to settle in.

I lived in a welcoming house in Harderwijk, a small city near Amsterdam, with my big host family. I had four host siblings, the oldest, my host partner Selina, is 13 years old.  Although I have to admit that it was not easy to live with another person, I got used to it and we became Friends, despite the fact that she is three years younger than me,which was an obstacle, because we don’t have many things in common.

During the week, we went to school by bike: their lessons are 45 minutes long, and the schedule changes every day. Sometimes we had lessons until midday, and other days until half past four. We were not expected to attend all the lessons, but we were lucky because many lessons in that school are in English. My favourite subject there was Biology, because the lessons were very practical and interesting.

I loved the school, and I wish we had this type of school in Italy. It is really modern, with a big cafeteria where we spent time during the breaks and could buy food and drinks, and a lot of learning areas where we studied during our free periods. All the students have their own locker, and they have a different classroom for every subject, so the students move at the end of every lesson. They study with iPads and have a different way of studying than we have.

During the weekend, I usually did something with the family: for example, we visited Amsterdam, Zaanse Schans, and Gröningen. These  are all very nice places to visit, and I was also able to spend some time with my host family.

To sum up, this is the best experience of my life because it has made me feel more responsible for myself and more curious about the world. I realized that life is too short to stay in your ‘safe place’.

I-Learn Erasmus Mobility

Four students from the Newton-Pertini high school in Camposampiero (Pd) participated in the I-LEARN project; it’s a project financed by the Erasmus mobility program which allows students to participate in cultural exchanges between different states of the European Union. These students, from the 22nd to the 29th of January, went to the RSG Slingerbos institute, a high school in Harderwijk, Netherlands. The Italian exchange students were hosted by four Dutch students; during the stay they attended the lessons with them. They took different classes such as Dutch history, math, economy and science. They also had lots of fun in drama class where they were divided in little groups and got involved in enjoyable theatrical activities.

The students were also able to visit some beautiful cities in Holland, such as Zwolle and even the capital, Amsterdam. On those days the students had to explore the city and complete some assignments such as: “Take a picture with every monument or statue on the list!”. They also had some good times with their host families, which included them in many activities outside of the school such as hanging out for dinner or visiting other cities.

I-LEARN across Europe

In particular, from 6 to 12 November, these Italian students hosted two Dutch students from the RSG Slingerbos institute, a high school in Harderwijk, a Dutch city, not very far from the capital.

During their stay in Italy, the Dutch students attended some lessons, often interactive, with the Italian students, prepared in English by the teachers. Among the various we can mention the biology lesson regarding the differentiation of the tissues of our organism and the physics lesson on renewable energies.

Throughout the week, not only the kids but the entire families had to communicate in English, making it an educational experience not only for the students, but also for the parents themselves!

Furthermore, the Dutch pupils had the opportunity to visit beautiful cities in Veneto, such as Venice and Padua.

Instead, the Italian students will go to Harderwijk from the 22nd to the 29th of January hosted by the same Dutch students they've hosted. They will spend their days living a life different from the one they are used to, getting to know a new culture and having new experiences.

In fact, the purpose of this project is to introduce students to new realities, improving their social skills, their autonomy and their ability to communicate with a language different from their native one.

EDIZIONE STRAORDINARIA!

 EXTRA! EXTRA!

Three students from the Newton-Pertini institute in Camposampiero (Padua) won a scholarship to go to Holland for a month!

It's true, a student in class 3B and two students in class 3A of the language course participated in a European Union LTM (Long Term Mobility) competition by winning an Erasmus scholarship that will allow them to spend 5 weeks in Harderwijk, a city 70km east of Amsterdam. This Exchange project provides for Italian students to welcome Dutch correspondents from November 6 to December 23, 2023 and consequently Dutch students to welcome Italian counterparts from January 22 to February 25, 2024. During the first week in Holland, Italian students will surely visit the beautiful capital and other smaller towns accompanied by their English language teacher and learn to follow the daily routine of their host students living exactly like them. In addition, for the entire stay abroad, they will attend classes at the RSG Slingerbos secondary school, a bilingual institution that provides for the teaching of most subjects in English and others in their native language (Dutch). Thanks to this experience, the  pupils will improve their level of English, understand the mode of operation of the local school system, learn about local customs and traditions and above all will greatly increase their cultural baggage.

Other experiences, many experiences

A Long Term Mobility experience in Romania

Good morning,

I am E.S. and am taking part in the Long Term Mobility experience, together with two other Italian girls from our school. From 22 January to 23 February we hosted three Romanian guys from Colegiul National Pedagogic ‘C. Bratescu’ in Constanza, on the Black Sea, and we had many experiences together. First of all, sharing everyday spaces and school life with another person was definitely a great challenge, which we faced with great determination and desire to get involved. Moreover, we visited several cities and seeing them with our partners, they have taken on a new perspective. On a sunny day we went through the streets of Venice, among the masks, and we will remember it with joy. In addition, we accompanied them to see the ancient walls of Castelfranco Veneto, a beautiful  town where we chatted and laughed together!

At the end of this month spent together, we are eager to  see them again in Romania  to have new enriching experiences: thanks to our school’s Erasmus+ accreditation, in September 2024, it will be our turn to go on an Erasmus+ Long Term mobility in Costanza, Romania!

Between May and October of this year, us class 4ALL, have taken part in a cultural exchange, with the Einstein Gymnasium of Potsdam, near Berlin.

This experience gave us the opportunity to interact with students of a different culture and to fully live their lives, as guests within German families for a week.

This trip taught us to be more independent, sustainable and to break down any kind of prejudice or stereotype towards other cultures.

We hope to have many more similar experiences!

Our experience in Turkey

In January 2024, our English teacher announced 4 students that would have the possibility  to go to Turkey, in Istanbul, for the Erasmus+ 2024, from 4th to 8th March 2024.

On Sunday 3rd March, we took the airplane and for some of us it was the first time. We were a little bit worried about the turbulence but we enjoyed the trip and we had fun!

The next day we were warmly welcomed by the students of the Turkish school with a traditional dance made by some Turkish students. They dressed in traditional clothes and jewelry. There was also the Minister of Education with other 2 colleagues who played an important role. Their presence made us feel important and well welcomed in Turkey.

That same evening the Turkish team composed of students and teachers  organized a wonderful meeting in a karaoke bar.

Here we danced and sang a lot of different songs: Romanian, Spanish, Turkish and Italian, to symbolize all the countries involved.

It has been the best experience that we had in Turkey, because we were all together and we had the opportunity to listen to the typical songs of each country. We had so much fun.

During our trip we noticed many differences between Italy and Turkey, that also other teams found.

One of the biggest is the lowest prices.

Furthermore Turkish people are very gentle, kind and helpful. They bring respect on every occasion: it’s prohibited to eat and talk loudly on public transports because it’s seen as rude behavior.

It has been an unforgettable experience. We are glad and grateful to all the schools that contributed to this enormous project. They gave us the possibility to meet new people and to know other cultures, completely different from ours.

We sincerely hope that this kind of project will continue to give the possibility to other students, make them try and feel how good we felt in Turkey.
