Rock Workshop (831) (Semester Course) Grades 9 - 12
Do you love music, play an instrument and want to play with other musicians? Do you like to play rock music? If so, this class offers you the opportunity to play in a modern band setting and learn about various styles of modern music. Rock Workshop explores the musical roots of the sounds you hear in our current musical trends. Thus, the class emphasizes the blues, jazz, Latin and rock as the core styles. This class is open to all instrumentalists and especially students that play drums, bass, guitar and piano. This class also need singers (even if you don't play an instrument)! We also welcome all wind instrumentalists (saxophone, trumpet, trombone, flute, oboe, horn, bassoon, cello, and more). Learning about song forms, styles, improvisation, theory and related history through applied performance will be the learning method of the Rock Workshop. Students will perform at North's Rock Night!

The Rock Workshop is an awesome chance for students to become rock stars! But seriously, this class provides an opportunity for students to learn about and perform in a rock band and perform at the North Rock Night. The rock program is a relatively new addition to the music department, but has grown significantly in popularity and enthusiasm on the last few years. This class strives to bring about the talent and uniqueness of each student musician as well as develop group playing. This class is really fun! - Mr. Labedz
