Mr. Moloney - Evergreen Civics (History) (Kind of)
Mr. Moloney - Evergreen Civics
Mr. Moloney is an 8th grade civics teacher on the Evergreen team. “Civics is all about what it means to be a citizen and a resident of the United States and so to do that we have to learn about the government now but also understand the Colonial Period, The Revolutionary War and how we ended up with the government that we have now. The Constitution was created almost 237 years ago so what was happening in America before that that helped the founding fathers create the government that they did? Unfortunately, the freedoms that were guaranteed in the Declaration of Independence haven’t always been given and so it's important for us to learn about how they fought to get what they deserve so that everyone is treated equally in America.” He says, when asked to describe Civics. This took around 10 minutes to write down! 😂
Anyway, Mr. Moloney was born in Lexington, Massachusetts, a town around 8 miles north of Day. His first year as a teacher was 2020 when he was a student teacher then in 2021 he started as a teacher in Wayland, MA. 2 years later, in 2023, he came to Day to be a long term sub before becoming the Evergreen civics (see above for a lengthy but great explanation from Mr. Moloney) teacher. He likes basketball, and running, whether he’s on the track, on the sidelines, or on the bleachers. He coached the 2025 city champion Day XC team. He likes to do 1,000 piece puzzles (which he puts out for his students to do) and watch The Simpsons, possibly at the same time. He likes chicken quesadillas from Anna’s Taqueria
