Mission Statement
Brown Working Theatre’s goal is to provide a home for any student who is interested in theatre. Whether performing on stage or working behind the scenes (lighting, sound, sets and other aspects of stagecraft and production), students will have an opportunity to participate together in a creative collaboration to “tell the story”.
Check out our PTO Website for more information and resources.
Our musical for 2022-2023 is still TBD

Auditions
Audition dates and materials will be distributed after the show title is announced.
Behind the Scenes
In Brown Working Theatre, students have the opportunity to work on the musical in more ways than just on stage. Students have roles as set designers, painters, crew members, and more! Information on how to apply for one of these roles will be distributed after the show title is announced.
Communication
Brown Working Theatre will be communicating quickly with parents using the Remind app. To register, click here and enter either a phone number or an email address to receive quick updates, reminders, and cancellations from the production team.
Important Dates
Attendance Policy
Rehearsals will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3-5pm. Friday rehearsals will be added starting later.
Students are expected to attend all rehearsals for which they are called.
Tech Week attendance is mandatory. The final dress rehearsal is mandatory.
Students who are absent from school are not permitted to attend after-school rehearsals.
Parent Involvement
This production cannot happen without support from parents and guardians to make sure that their student is in the right place at the right time, and prepared to be a part of the team. At different times, that will mean different things: bring your script, be ready to be off-script, bring in costume items, etc. Please make sure you are on our mailing list and be sure to read any communications so that you know what is expected. Email theatre@brownpto.org to be added to the mailing list.
We also rely on parent help with everything from costumes to concessions! There are many different ways to get involved, and it is rewarding, fun and appreciated.
PTO Theatre Committee: help provide leadership and coordinate parent involvement.
Communications: help manage contact lists, send emails and update the BWT webpage.
Costumes: sewing help is a premium, but we also need help with organization, crafts, and shopping.
Playbill: help with print production, ads and salutations. Easy to do from home!
Photography: Capture photos from rehearsals; put together a slide show for the cast party.
Dressing Room Support: help out during dress rehearsals and performances making sure students have the right outfit and accessories. Watch the performance one night, help out the other night. The show is broadcast on TV monitors in the dressing rooms.
Concessions Sales: Fundraising is crucial to the BWT, and we need parents to organize and help sell concessions before the shows and during intermission, plus one parent each night to watch out for stragglers and keep an eye on inventory.
Flowers: organize flowers for the concession stand, and/or for closing night thank yous.
Cast and Crew Party: Help organize a post-production celebration for cast and crew at Brown.
Donations, playbill ads and salutations
Ticket sales and drama fees don’t cover the costs of the musical: we rely on funds raised through donations, playbill ads and playbill salutations.
Check out the Brown Working Theatre webpage at http://brownpto.org/student-activities/brown-working-theatre/ to sign up or make a donation, and for more information, forms, and regular updates, including rehearsal schedules as they become available.
