What is sucrose?
Sucrose, which is often called table sugar is a naturally occurring disaccharide sugar/double sugar. A disaccharide is a molecule composed of two monosaccharides, aka sugars. The sucrose molecule is composed of two monosaccharides- Glucose and Fructose connected via a glycosidic bond.
How do we get sucrose?
Sucrose, although found in almost all plants, can't actually be extracted from these plants with the exceptions being Sugarcane and sugar beets. Sugarcane is found in tropical and subtropical areas whereas sugar beets are a root crop grown in temperate zones.
