Enrichment projects and clubs
Program Options are subject to change. Some activities require teacher recommendation and/or qualifying test scores for participation.
I Make Stuff up Writing Club
IMSU is open to all students (6-8) interested in expressing themselves and their ideas through writing.
We will meet virtually in google meets to get ideas, share some writing, and get some moral support! If you can't join a virtual meeting, no worries. You can still participate in the group activities.
The club is a safe space where students can use their imagination to create works of poetry, short stories, songs, memoirs, and there is even a novel writing challenge in November if you wish to participate! More info to come.
Tinker cad and 3d printing
Tinkercad is a free, online 3D modeling program that runs in a web browser, known for its simplicity and ease of use. Since it became available in 2011 it has become a popular platform for creating models for 3D printing as well as an entry-level introduction to constructive solid geometry in schools
We also have a 3D printer on site for students to print designs created for specific use, assignment or just for fun.
Hour of Code and Coding Exploration
The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with 1-hour coding activities but expanding to all sorts of community efforts
Chesskers
Chess and Checker Club
Students in 6th through 8th Grade can join Chesskers. All abilities welcome. The club meets weekly on Thursdays.
Chapter2
Review Crew
NRMS Chapter2 Review Crew.
We are excited to partner with Chapter2 Bookstore in Hudson, WI to review advanced reader novels/books. The bookstore provides books that they get from the publishers, and we provide the reviews!
Members will be asked to read a variety of books that in most cases haven’t been published yet, while others will have just come on the market. Each student will write a short review consisting of one to two paragraphs and will submit to Mrs. Markowski via a google doc.
There are no scheduled meeting dates, which makes it easier for our readers. Participants will come in to choose books and work on reviews during WINN or an arranged time if student doesn't have a WINN.
To get started join the Chapter2 Review Crew Google Classroom
