June.  Pride is feeling good about who you are.  And sometimes we need a parade.

The month of May brings a focus on the culture and heritage of Asian and Pacific Islander peoples. Take a look at some of the Lenape Library offerings. The links to the books will open in our online catalog for a closer look. All can be borrowed.

February 2024

Black History Month has been designated and acknowledged since 1976.  It grew out of Negro History Week, established in 1926, by a man, a scholar, an historian, named Carter G. Woodson.  His story is an American story with the characteristic less than humble beginnings, to the halls of Harvard University, and to the creation of an Association dedicated to the collection and preservation of African American contributions to the world. He was the second African American to earn a PhD in history from Harvard (W.E.B, DuBois was the first).  And he is the only Black American in history, whose parents had been slaves, who went on to receive a doctorate.

Our libraries are full of stories that show us who we are, where we come from, and how we can be inspired.  Read a biography!

How We Build the Lenape Library Collection

Students the age of our Lenape students learn Community and Kindness, Respect and Responsibility, through the environments we create and the interactions we encourage. The language we use requires appropriate use in context. Our School Library maintains, grows, and utilizes, a collection that fosters Community through the Mirrors and Windows idea. This concept allows students to see themselves and build identity, as well as provides access to other experiences that may seem unfamiliar, and yet are relatable.  Stories and informational text contribute to nurturing a child's sense of self in the world.  Compassion and Empathy grow from the place of the Golden Rule - treat others as you want to be treated.

Below is the interface where you can begin to explore the Lenape Library Collection.  Notice the drop down menu (v) next to the word, "Anywhere".  This is where you will choose to specifically search for title, author, or subject.
