Submission Guidelines for Driven
Celebrating 30 years of Odyssey
Who else would be crazy enough to attend Odyssey except somebody who is driven?
Therefore, the editors of the anthology celebrating 30 years of Odyssey have chosen as its theme:
Driven
Take us to a unique setting. Dazzle us with compelling dialog, intense action, and startling plot twists. But most of all, give us characters who are driven.
Internally driven–to succeed, to win, to survive, to show someone up, to get revenge…
Externally driven–hounded, forced, goaded, haranged, nagged, cursed, coerced…
Think strongly motivated characters, from Odysseus determined to return home despite Neptune's curse, to Ahab pursuing the whale, to Yeager determined to break the sound barrier, to a mother desperate to rescue her child from the haunted house, to Khan obsessed with defeating Kirk…
There must be a speculative element, but all shades of fantasy, science fiction, and horror (nothing too graphic) are welcome. If you are wondering about steampunk, paranormal, surreal, nanopunk, military–stop wondering! “All shades” means all shades. Surprise us.
Originality counts. A lot.
Help us celebrate the transformative learning experience that is Odyssey and the fantastic writers in our community!
