Accessing the Datasets:
1) Use the Pew Research Center's webpage, American Trends Panel Datasets, to browse the different "waves" of datasets.
You may be asked to log into your Pew Research Center Account
Start at the bottom of the page and work backwards from Wave 128 to browse the most recent surveys
Look at the summaries and reports created by the specific Wave for variability that is similar to what you are interested in studying for your project
Make sure to pay close attention to the visuals. Study them carefully for how they were constructed
2) When you identify a report (or reports) created by a Wave's dataset...
Go to this GOOGLE FOLDER
Find the sub-folder for the specific Wave
Open the .csv file and convert it to a Google Sheet
Save that file to your D.S.F.P. Folder
Clean the dataset using the Codebook File or the Questionnaire File
Clean the Header Row and ALL of the Responses
NOTE: I AM STARTING AT THE MOST RECENT WAVES AND WORKING BACKWARDS. IF YOU DO NOT SEE THE SPECIFIC WAVE YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IN THE GOOGLE FOLDER, EMAIL ME AND I WILL GET TO THAT ONE NEXT.
3) Want extra credit?? Talk to me about selecting one additional dataset to clean.
I must approve the dataset before you clean it if you want the credit for it.
