Since the start of the school year our class has discussed different inventions and campaigns and we have come to the conclusion that a campaign would be the best choice for the style of our class. Why? We collaborate better as a group who is pushing for social change. The team chose one news site each and we consulted different ideas upon each other and came across landfills. Since the past two years we have created physical products, we thought to start a campaign about recycling clothing and the effects clothing has on landfills in third world countries. As a group we researched more about landfills and the effects it has on third world countries. Through this we have discovered the detrimental effects clothing waste has on the environment and the world as a whole. Despite how far this problem reaches, few are aware or want to realize that it is their own actions which are harming this world.
In Chemistry, our class split into groups. Catherine, Alex and Amber worked on completing the presentation for Wednesdays field trip at the Palace Theater in Waterbury. Nick, Sean and Drew worked on creating questions to ask the people that we will call for help.
Our class went to Waterbury Field Trip to present our presentations for expo. We each visited different groups. Nick and Sean did Mathematical Modeling, Drew did Prototype and Design Review, Alex did Digital Media and Online Presence, and Catherine did Exhibition, Selling, and Pitch.
Our class discussed what we learned at the field trip. We also decided what we were going to do for the remainder of the class. Sean and Drew looked at the list of phone number to call people and made a draft of what to say when on the phone. Alex looked at our website and fix some of the errors. Catherine and Amber drafted informations to tweet and made a plan for social media
As a class we have been focusing on how to advertise our campaign. We have discussed many different posters to hang around our school. Our twitter page is also coming along and we have been thinking of different tweets to post. People have been called to help us as much as they can and we have done more research on where clothing goes if not purchased at retail and thrift stores. We have finalized our logo and our slogan to put on the posters and t-shirts.
