Dream Camp 2024 Applications
Dream Camp 2024 invites applications from NEWESD 101 educators across all grades (Pre K-12) and disciplines, including STEM, ELA, Special Education, and Multilingual Learners. We seek diverse educators passionate about innovative teaching, technology integration, and collaborative learning. If you're eager to explore new educational frontiers and enhance your professional development, Dream Camp is your opportunity to shine.
Who can apply?
NEWESD 101 educators with various roles (teachers, coaches, administrators, etc.)
Pre K through grade 12 educators with various areas of focus (STEM, ELA, Special Education, Multilingual Learning, Early Childhood, etc.)
NEWESD 101 educators representing various perspectives and regions.
Who will be selected?
A cohort of 15 NEWESD 101 educators will be selected in order to ensure diverse representation of roles, specializations, perspectives, and regions.
The cohort will be comprised of leaders who exemplify how to:
Position each learner as capable
Enhance the identity and agency of each learner
Value multiple contributions
The selection for Dream Camp's cohort will focus on educators who excel in one or more of these areas:

Strategically using AI tools to enhance educational outcomes, demonstrating an understanding of how technology can support learning.#building-thinking-classrooms
Fostering environments that encourage active thinking and problem-solving, moving beyond rote memorization to develop critical thinking skills in students.#curriculum
Skillfully designing or adapting curricula to enrich learning, showing a commitment to evolving educational content for maximum impact.#learning-to-human
Skillfully meeting each learner as a human and employing effective practices in facilitating learner growth.#assessment-for-learning
Utilizing assessments as a means to support and guide students' learning journeys, focusing on feedback and improvement rather than solely on grades.
Participant knowledge of and experience with phenomenon-based and/or game-based learning will be taken into consideration by the selection committee.
How will the cohort be selected?
Applicants are encouraged to showcase their candidacy through a combination of written statements, project examples, audio, and/or video submissions. The selection committee will evaluate applications based on demonstrated expertise in the focus areas listed above, evidence of innovative teaching practices, and the potential for contributing to a collaborative learning community at Dream Camp.
Applicants may draw from their prior or current work to demonstrate their strengths.
Applicants may also choose to complete tasks to demonstrate their strengths.
Application requirements
Active NEWESD 101 educator
Applicants must demonstrate they are an educator actively working for or collaborating with a recognized NEWESD 101 district.
Commitment to attend
Applicants must commit to attend Dream Camp in person at the Davenport Grand Hotel in Spokane, WA during March 13 - 15 from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm each day.
Costs covered by the fellowship for each of the 15 Dream Camp participants:
Registration
Lodging for three nights at the Davenport Grand Hotel
Daily lunches and snacks
Twelve (12) month access to software, digital tools, and support
Twelve (12) month access to learning workshops, collaborative online spaces for continued educator collaboration, and peer feedback sessions
Costs not covered by the fellowship for each of the 15 Dream Camp participants:

Travel to or from Dream Camp
Meals before 9:00 am or after 4:00 pm each day
Commitment to implementation
Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to implementing the innovative teaching practices and strategies developed at Dream Camp within their school, district, or region. As part of the application process, candidates are required to:
Outline a Preliminary Plan of Action: Applicants will describe a potential project or initiative they wish to develop or enhance through participation in Dream Camp. This should include how it aligns with the focus areas of the camp and the impact anticipated on their educational community.
Administrative Assurances: Applicants must provide evidence of support from an administrator (e.g., principal, district superintendent) affirming their commitment to supporting the implementation of their Plan of Action. This letter, audio, or video recording should acknowledge the importance of integrating innovative practices learned at Dream Camp and confirm the availability of necessary resources and support for successful execution
