Instructional Video For Brain Diagram Puzzle

Instructions for Dissecting the Sheep Brain are Below

Brain Dissection 1.mp4

Video 1 Preparing for brain dissecting

Watch the video all the way through before doing anything in the video. Also, please note: DO NOT actually make the flags until you are ready to actually dissect. Write out the labels, yes, but once you make the flags, they are sticky and can end up stuck together if you don't keep them separated.

NOTE: You will not be able to see the olfactory bulbs on this brain. They have been removed. So you will have two extra labels in case you make a mistake but you do not need to make labels for those two.

NOTE: DO NOT throw away the Ziplock bag. You will need it later.

Getting started with the dissection.mp4

Video 2 Beginning the dissection

Again, be sure to watch this video all the way through before doing anything in the video. You can always watch it again as you do it, but watching it all the way first makes sure you know what to expect.

Also watch video 3 all the way through before starting what is in video 2.

Video 3 The Dissection

Again, watch this video before you start dissecting.

Instructions not in the video:

As you dissect, you will be documenting it by making a video using the camera on your computer. (Some of this is discussed in video 3).

The following are the numbers are the PLTW Activity 2.4 that you need to read and do for the dissection and that need to be shown in your video.

First, following #6, identify the side, top, and bottom views. (Nothing to label yet)

From the TOP View perspective, follow the instructions for #10, 12, 15, 18, 21. As you do each, record a short segment to show the parts and to state what they do. You may want to have your work out from when you typed up what each part is responsible for so you can read from that.

From the BOTTOM View perspective, follow the instructions for #23.

From the SIDE View perspective, follow the instructions for #26.

Now, move to video 4.

How to make the cut.mp4

Video 4 Making the cut to separate the hemisphere and then the internal dissection

Be sure to watch the video all the way through before doing this stop.

After you have separated the two hemispheres, follow the instructions at #39 and #40 for your inside dissection labeling and add to your video.
