National Manufacturing Day - October 4th

7th graders from the Design and Modeling engineering class toured the Newberry Samsung Manufacturing Facility on National Manufacturing Day, October 4th. Samsung facility employees over 800 people, 90% are local to Newberry. Students also heard from Jay Timmons, President and CEO of the National Association of Manufacturers about the importance of a variety of skills to the manufacturing industry as well as the different jobs they could one day have at a company such as Samsung. He emphasized the skills from the Profile of a SC Graduate such as collaboration and teamwork, critical thinking and problem solving, as well as personal responsibility skills such as work ethnic, communication skills, and knowing how to learn.
