Experience

Mrs. Kelly began teaching in 1993 at Newberry Middle School where she spent many years teaching 7th and 8th grade Science with some teaching experience in Social Studies, ELA, and Math. She then taught 4th/5th grade Montessori at Gallman 2006-2007. She also taught 8th grade Science at Indian Land Middle School during the 2009-2010 school year. She is currently teaching the Project Lead The Way Gateway Classes of Medical Detectives, Design and Modeling, and Automation and Robotics at Mid-Carolina Middle School.

Mrs. Kelly has served as Head of the Science Department at both Newberry Middle and Indian Land Middle. She served on the Science Curriculum Development Team for Newberry County and was chosen to be a member of Newberry County's NASA Explorer Team in 2003. She became National Board Certified in Middle School Science in 2002. She is the Related Arts Team Leader, a Beta Club sponsor and serves as a member of the MCMS Leadership Team. At the state level, she is currently serving as a member of the Grand Challenges in SC STEM Education Task Force.

As a Project Lead The Way Master Teacher, Mrs. Kelly is a national trainer for new teachers in the Design and Modeling, Medical Detectives, and Automation and Robotics courses. She trains teachers during the summer.
