Louis J. Milani

This school was established in 1962 as Louis J. Milani Elementary School. Mr. Milani was influential in the City of Newark's early days. He is noted as working for the betterment of the City and is remembered fondly by many.

Louis J. Milani was a City Councilmember first and then served as Mayor of the City from April 1962 to February 1963.

Although the school is now Birch Grove Intermediate, the library shall be named the Louis J. Milani Library in honor of Mr. Milani and the site's old name.

(Do you know more about Mr. Milani or have pictures to share? Please feel free to contact the library, so we can add more information.)
