Interventions are an important part of helping students to regulate themselves to engage and access learning. The main purpose of all interventions must be to enable the student to return to lessons and re-engage in the lessons.
Interventions can be split into 2 categories
Planned
Unplanned
Planned interventions are those which we have pre-arranged to meet a pre-identified need.
Unplanned interventions are those which we deliver when needed in response to a students needs at a certain time.
All interventions aim to help students regulate their sensory need to make sure they arent overloaded, remove barriers to learning, improve the emotional wellbeing of the student and reduce any anger to prevent any situations arising requiring RPI.
Interventions can also include 'catch up' work in Maths and English. With our students having learning needs and missing education frequent overlearning as well as working on missing gaps in education is vital. This might be Phonics, Additional reading and comprehension, working on numeracy skills.
In order to gage if interventions are working or to identify if students need interventions putting in place we need to capture information about interventions which is done using the form below. This records whos had the intervention, if its planned or not, a brief description but primarily allows your to assess the outcome of the intervention. There are 4 outcomes, not all will be applicable, if this is the case leave it blank. But these look at General success (required), Re-Engagement (required), Emotional wellbeing, Sensory Wellbeing and Anger. There is then a question on if the intervention needs reviewing, This helps me to filter and see what interventions we need to look at and perhaps amend.
