All About Our School

School Profile: 

Truman School serves as the attendance center for grades 3-4-5 in the Nevada R-5 School District.  Truman was constructed in 1994 and stands as a tribute to a community effort to provide an up-to-date physical learning environment for students and staff. 

Mission: 

The mission of Truman Elementary is “to ensure that all students acquire the skills, knowledge and competencies for success in life through a results-driven school and community-based educational program.” 

Goals: 

The goals of Truman School are:

• By the Spring 2024, 90% of Truman Elementary students will have 90% attendance. 

• The number of students at Truman Elementary scoring proficient or advanced on the Missouri Assessment Program will increase by 2% or meet/exceed the state average annually. 

Instructional and Support Staff: 

    Truman school provides a staff of 60 to meet the needs of our students. This includes the principal, assistant principal, classroom teachers, reading specialists, art, music and physical education instructors, speech therapists and a media specialist. Additional personnel include two full time counselors, school nurse, special resource teachers and a gifted instructor.  Teaching assistants/paraprofessionals and two secretaries complete the staff. We also have a custodial and kitchen staff.  All of the staff meet the qualification of being highly qualified according to the “No Child Left Behind” guidelines.
