Description: Dive into new approaches to identify ways Google Sites can be utilized to enhance writing, assessment and reflection. BYOD as we discuss opportunities for teachers to implement and manage this tool immediately in diverse classroom settings. In this session we will engage strategies for collaboration across grades and disciplines through co-designed writing portfolio projects. We will share ideas on moving from traditional assessment of writing to a use of technology that fosters student agency and ownership in the writing process, culminating in a student defense of their writing journey.

Description: uBEATS is 65 free online, interactive science lessons for students in grades 6-12. Vetted by UNMC experts and launched in 2021, this session uncovers the top five lessons learned when developing interactive NGSS science resources including: rapid module development, launching in a pandemic, learning analytics on a budget, online hosting , and the NEscore for quality development. Teachers and students use uBEATS for supplemental information typically not part of traditional classes. The program is a partnership between the UNMC and UNO.

Nebraska's Holocaust Survivors: Digital Inquiry Meets SEL

Description: Bridge Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Digital Inquiry through The Nebraska Holocaust Survivor & WWII Veteran Educational Portal, a digital humanities space about Holocaust survivors who found refuge in Nebraska. Through this research portal, discover artifacts, engage the C3 Inquiry Design Model, and embed SEL opportunities for students. Connect students to modern issues through Nebraska Holocaust survivor narratives, and use digital tools (searchable transcripts, weblogs, and interactive maps) to lead to powerful inquiry and examine how international calamities happen to real people.
