Throughout my time in the classroom, I really wanted to take the chance to get to know the students individually. So I spent a lot of time bending a knee at their desks to get to their level. This I feel creates a unique conversation where they are not looking up to me, but rather I am coming down to them. It gives me the opportunity to see what they see. I had a moment with one student who has been having behavioral issues within the classroom. I started getting to know him better and he eventually asked me why I wanted to become a teacher. I told him my story and he started to become more fond of me.
I also wanted to do something personal for the students. We were on the topic of animal habitats and I created a document which had a mix of different habitats. On the back of the page, I included examples of each habitat the students could refer to. The page was also very colorful which I believe the students enjoyed.
