The Individual Access Pilot Program (IAP) is designed to provide pathways for students to participate in PSAL sports if they attend a school with fewer than six teams and/or they attend a school in targeted districts with limited access to sports. If approved, the student may try out for a sports team not offered at their school, campus, or within their Shared Access Program.

The ninth and tenth graders had a strong showing on Saturday as they raced in their city championships. Overall we had 18 personal bests and three team bests. Ninth graders Jack Troast and Charlie Mansfield started the day with big PR's in the 1.5 mile race, finishing in 12:10 and 12:20.
The 9th grade girls team finished fifth in the borough two weeks ago and today finished sixth in the entire city. Ninth grader Eleanor Lewis-Jenkins finished second, beating her school record by 8 seconds (despite wearing two different shoes). Other medalists included Phoebe Pardo-Blum and Aleksandra Glacel-Tyrtyshn who finished 22nd and 30th. Daisy Munoz, Nava Elul, and Hannah Sheaffer all helped lock in the sixth-place team finish with strong races.
The ten 10th grade boys improved from their 7th place finish last season to finish 5th in the city. Weston Macari led the squad with a tenth-place finish, followed by Ramsey Hansen (26th), Daniel Godinger (30th), Oliver Henry & Brandon Esguerra (49th, tie). All five earned medals. Karttik Dhandia, Chris Wagner, Nick Bertoni, Enson Ye, and Elon Brener rounded out the squad's historic finish.
The 10th grade girls finished the day with an 11th place showing, redeeming themselves from an incomplete squad two weeks ago. Lina Baede and Sabine Bomse earned medals for the hawks (35th and 49th), followed by Olive Solfrian, Suree Dieudonne, and Barra Levy-Mazie. The Varsity and JV squads will finish their season next Saturday at the Varsity/JV City Championships! Congrats to all the runners.

The XC squads had one of their first meets this week and we had some stellar results. Even with both squads being plagued with injuries, the girls team finished 1st in their Prospect Park Meet, edging 2nd place Lab Museum by 43 points. Ninth grader Eleanor Lewis-Jenkins stormed to a first place finish in her debut for the hawks, besting second place by 45 seconds. Rounding out the top 5 were sophomore Lina Baede (13th place), senior captain Amelia Leone (15th), junior Lucy Quigley (19th) and sophomore Sabine Bomse (21st).
On the boys varsity side, the hawks had a close competition but fell just short, finishing second place (55 points) to a strong Thomas Jefferson team (50 points). Senior Bruno Katz led the way for the hawks, finishing second with a strong sprint to the finish. Rounding out the top 5 were sophomores Daniel Godinger (10th), Ramsey Hansen (15th) and Oliver Henry (17th). Senior Zachary Habert also chipped in with a strong 11th place finish.

Cross Country Updates
Shared Access - NEST+m & Bard (East Houston Hawks!)
Hey E Houston Hawks + families,
I hope you're all enjoying your summer! We're gearing up for XC this fall and I wanted to send a few reminders as we start the season. First, if you're receiving this email it means you or your child signed up to run cross country this fall for Bard or NEST+M! We're looking forward to a competitive and successful season.
If you haven't already, please read through the Student Information Sheet. It includes everything you will need to know about the upcoming season, except for the schedule which will be updated and finalized once school starts. For now, know that we will be starting practice Monday, August 28th @ 8 am. We will meet from roughly 8-10 am to beat the heat, and start at Bard High School before jogging over to the East River Park for practice. We will practice M-Fri and then resume on Tuesday after LDW.
For the first day of practice you will need the following:
1. paper copies of both the PSAL Medical and PSAL parental consent forms. The PSAL medical form is good for one calendar year, while the PSAL parental consent must be completed before each sport season. Please have both copies ready to go, otherwise you will not be able to practice with us. Both forms are linked in the student info sheet.
2. Water! Even though were practicing early, please bring a bottle of water to drink, and be sure to be hydrating before and after practice.
3. Running sneakers. You can order a pair online for relatively cheap, or go to a running store where a salesperson can help you out. You will be putting in a good amount of mileage this season so a fresh pair of sneakers is a good investment.
4. A phone/watch. While we don't run with music, having a phone or watch to time/track your distance for runs is very helpful. We will have a few stopwatches to lend out in the meantime.
**Sunscreen is also a good idea if you have light or sensitive skin.
Before the first day of practice:
1. Join our SportsYou group (instructions on student info sheet). This is where I will disseminate info all season long. Please join asap!
2. Run, run, run! Check out the summer workouts linked in the student info sheet. Any mileage you get in before the season starts makes a huge difference. Get out and go for a jog with a friend or family member! It doesn't have to be fast or 10 miles, just move your body.
I'm stoked for this season!! If you have any questions in the meantime, do not hesitate to email me. If I don't respond immediately... don't panic! I'm in Australia and am most likely sleeping or cheering for the Matildas🇦🇺 See you in two weeks!

NOTES FROM THE COACH:
Goodmorning. This is Mike Tauber. I am the head varsity football coach at Stuyvesant High School. I got all your emails from Peter Bologna the athletic director at Stuyvesant High School. Your schools have been matched with us for All Access Football. Some of your schools received information a wile ago but many of your schools were matched with us very late.
Tryouts are Mon August 21st- @Murry Burgtraum Field- Entrance at the corner of Cherry St.+ market Slip. Address for Navigation is 171 Cherry St., New Yor, NY 10002.
Practice is 8/21-8/26 and 8/28-9/1. Once school starts practice is every day during the week. Games fall either Fri, sat, or Sunday.
Students need PSAL parent form and valid medical.
Students should have written verification of student's attendance and academic eligibility.
Students need water, cleats, and a mouthguard.
We provide all other equipment including helmets, shoulder pads, etc. We do have a Varsity team and a JV team. Both schedules are posted on the PSAL website. Any questions or concerns you can email me at mtauber@schools.nyc.gov
You can also have any interested students or parents email me for more information.
Normally Football at Stuyvesant has been a no cut sport since I have been here as a coach for the last 16 years. We are going to do our best to keep it that way, but it also depends on the number of students we receive from All Access. We need to have enough equipment for any players we receive. As of right now it looks like we have more all access matches than any other school. Stuyvesant plus 17 high schools. I will do my best to make this work. Thanks

Track and Field Success and Updates!
The track and field teams had their borough champs this past weekend and both squads had a ton of PRs. We also had three school records! Weston Macari snapped Rafael Misak's 2015 steeplechase record by almost 20 seconds, blazing to a 4th place finish in 10:53.42. His time also qualified him for the City Champs over MDW! Y1 captain Mia DePaolo executed her 1500m race plan flawlessly, snagging an 8th place finish and beating 2019 graduate Hanna Dobroszycki's record by .3 seconds in 5:41.69. Our last record was the last race of the day--the girls 4x400 relay. Teammates Eve Epstein, Zoe Shim, Jade Ferguson, and Sofia Medina smashed another 2019 record by 7 seconds, finishing 4th in 4:44.
Other medalists for East Houston included Jade Ferguson finishing 3rd in the 400m hurdles (her first time running) and Jen Derise finishing 6th in the 1500m race walk (also her first time in the event).
Most of our varsity is finished, but the 9th and 10th graders have their city champs in a couple weeks. Thank you for your support and congratulate our athletes if you see them today.

East Houston Hawks Cross-Country
Happy summer and happy Pride!
This email is going out to anyone who might be interested in competing in cross country this fall. Bard and Nest are combining forces as the East Houston St Hawks--our first XC season as a joint program. There will be a zoom interest meeting this Thursday June 16 @ 6:00pm. In this meeting we'll talk about what you can expect as a cross country runner, summer training, and answer any questions you might have. Your attendance in no way commits you to competing. It's just to learn a bit and help you make an informed decision. Here are four reasons why you should join the XC team this fall:
1. You will get in shape, you will improve, and you will be challenged. We do a lot of running, but mix it in with other fitness activities and weight training as well.
2. We are a large team. This is a great way to meet new people, including students from other schools.
3. Previous running experience is not required. All ability and experience levels are welcomed.
4. Everyone makes the team! There are no cuts.
In the meantime, feel free to shoot me an email with any questions. I look forward to seeing all your faces one last time before summer break. For those not joining, HAGS
Be well,
Coach Miller
