Diet

• Bottom feeders with a diet consisting of bottom-living invertebrates and small fishes

• Using slow swimming and gliding through the water, can rapidly flap away when need to get away from predators

• Their large wings make it much easier to navigate tight spaces

Defense Mechanisms

• They lack a stinging barb but are able to bury their themselves and blend in with the sand

• Also have a dual camouflage method called countershading

• Have the ability to change its shade in order to blend in with its surroundings
