• They use filter feeding with their hair-like baleen consume large amounts of zooplankton and copepods

Agility

• Known for being slow swimmers and staying between speeds of 2.3 to 5.8 miles per hour

• During feeding they have been seen breaching out of the water and crashing back down

Defense Mechanisms

• Their large size protects them from most predators, they can thrash their tails to injure its attacker

• Traveling in pods helps reduce the risk of being attacked

Superpower

• They travel more than an 1,000 miles between calving grounds in the U.S. Southeast and feeding grounds in U.S. Northeast and Canada
