Please watch our own 2nd generation Nepali mom explaining the importance of learning Nepali language.
Hello everyone,
Wow! What a fantastic first day we had kicking off our Nepali School Fall Session 2025! The energy in the room was just incredible. We are absolutely thrilled to welcome 53 bright, smiling students into our classrooms today!
It was so heartwarming to see the mix of familiar faces returning – ready to dive back into learning and connecting – and lots of wonderful new students just starting their journey with us. Seeing everyone come together, sharing that excitement for a new session, really set the perfect tone.
A Special Visit & A Powerful Story: Mohini Ghale Adhikari Shares Her Journey
One of the most special moments of our first day came when we welcomed Mohini Ghale Adhikari, a true gem in our community – a wonderful 2nd generation Nepali mom whose passion for our language and culture shines brightly.
Mohini didn't just visit, she gifted our students with something truly precious: her personal story. Sitting with the kids, she opened up about her own journey learning Nepali. She spoke honestly about the challenges she faced growing up, sharing how opportunities to learn Nepali formally were often scarce or simply didn't exist when she was young. You could see the understanding dawning on the students' faces as she described a time very different from their own.
Her words weren't just history, they were a heartfelt reminder of why our school matters so much. Hearing directly from someone like Mohini who embodies the bridge between generations and cultures, made the students realize just how fortunate they are to have this chance to learn, connect, and carry their heritage forward. It was a powerful, personal connection that textbooks alone could never provide.
The kids were absolutely captivated, hanging on her every word. Mohini's warmth and honesty turned a simple talk into a meaningful conversation about identity, perseverance, and the importance of preserving our roots. It was a beautiful, inspiring start to our semester, reminding us all of the deep value in the work we do together.
Getting Everyone Set Up for Success:
Right from the start, we wanted to make sure every student had what they needed. So, today was all about getting equipped:
Chromebooks for Those Who Needed Them: We were really happy to get Chromebooks into the hands of students who needed them. Making sure everyone has access to the tech they need is super important to us, and it felt great to check that off the list!
Books Distributed: The sound of textbooks being handed out always signals the real beginning! Students got their books and workbooks, so they're all set to dig into the learning materials.
Tech Check-In: Smooth Sailing!
We know how vital being connected is, so we spent time today making sure everyone was comfortable with our online spaces. It went really smoothly!
Google Classroom: Every student logged in and joined their specific Google Classroom. Phew! No access hiccups, everyone is officially part of their virtual class hub. Few students who missed the first class are requested to validate their login before the virtual session next week.
Google Meet Ready: We also had students test out joining a Google Meet. Just in case we need to hop online for any reason, we know everyone can connect easily. Practice makes perfect!
Feeling Grateful & Excited:
Honestly, seeing the students engaged, helping each other out, and getting settled in today just filled us with so much gratitude and excitement. A huge thank you to our amazing parents and school volunteers who helped everything run like clockwork.
To all our students and families – welcome back and welcome aboard! We have a feeling this is going to be a truly special session, filled with learning, laughter, and growing together in our Nepali language and culture.
Keep an eye out for more updates and snapshots from our classrooms as we get rolling!
Here's to a fantastic Fall 2025 session!
