Please watch our own 2nd generation Nepali mom explaining the importance of learning Nepali language.
Founded in 2020, Laliguras Nepali American Women is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting a healthy lifestyle, fostering mutual support, and preserving our rich Nepali culture here in Illinois. It quickly became a vibrant community space for women to celebrate festivals, share traditions, and build lasting connections.
Recognizing the vital need to pass these traditions to the next generation, the organization took a major step forward by establishing the Laliguras Nepali School in September 2023. The school’s mission is to provide children in the greater Chicago area with a unique opportunity to learn the Nepali language and connect deeply with their cultural heritage.
Through a blend of classes, storytelling, and cultural activities, we nurture a strong sense of identity and pride in our students. We offer both fall and spring sessions with weekly hybrid classes tailored for various age groups, ensuring that Nepali traditions flourish for generations to come.
At Laliguras Nepali School, we are more than just a school; we are a family. As a non-profit organization run entirely by dedicated community volunteers, our mission is to connect our children with the vibrant language, traditions, and culture of Nepal.

Our Mission At Laliguras Nepali School, our mission is to connect the next generation with the rich heritage of Nepal. We are dedicated to fostering a deep appreciation for the Nepali language and our vibrant culture through an engaging and supportive learning environment.
Our Approach to Learning Our curriculum is centered on providing an immersive experience in Nepali language and culture. Learning extends beyond the classroom with hands-on class projects and exciting field trips designed to bring our traditions to life. We utilize a collaborative group learning model, which includes breakout sessions to ensure personalized attention and active participation for every student.
Enrollment & Session Details To provide a quality learning experience, we maintain small class sizes and limit enrollment to 50 students per session. Our academic year is divided into two 12-week sessions:
Spring Session
Fall Session
A detailed school calendar will be provided to all families before the start of each session.
A Community-Driven Organization Laliguras Nepali School is a non-profit organization powered by the dedication of our community volunteers. We do not have any paid employees. All registration fees and personal donations are used directly for school expenditures, such as learning materials, classroom snacks, and operational costs.
Class Schedule & Format We offer a hybrid learning model to balance flexibility with valuable in-person interaction:
Online Classes: Sundays from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
In-Person Classes: Held on the third Sunday of each month, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. We provide snacks during these gatherings.
Important: The first and last day of every session will always be held in-person to build community and celebrate our students' progress.
Digital Platform & Communication We use Google Classroom for all class-related activities. Students are expected to submit their assignments through this platform. For general communication, announcements, and direct contact, we will connect with parents through the official school email and a dedicated Viber group.
The Parent-School Partnership: Your Role in Your Child's Success We believe that a strong partnership between our school and our parents is essential for a child's success. We kindly ask for your cooperation in the following areas to support your child's learning journey:
Punctuality & Attendance: Please ensure your child arrives on time for in-person classes and logs in promptly for online sessions. Consistent attendance is key to progress.
Homework Support: Encourage and assist your child in completing their homework on time.
Create a Conducive Learning Environment: For online classes, please provide a quiet, safe space free from distractions like television, cell phones, and background noise.
Online Class Engagement: To foster an interactive and connected classroom, students are required to keep their video cameras on throughout the duration of online classes.
Attendance & Participation Policy To ensure a consistent and effective learning experience for all students and to maintain the integrity of our structured curriculum, we have a firm attendance policy. Any student who accumulates 3 absences or fails to submit 2 homework assignments within a session may be unable to continue for the remainder of that session. We appreciate your partnership in helping your child meet these expectations.
Our Team Laliguras Nepali School is guided by a dedicated Steering Committee for administrative matters and a Teacher Committee that oversees the curriculum and learning objectives for each session. We are all committed to providing the best possible experience for your children.
