MATH

"Mathematics may not teach us to add love or subtract hate, but it gives us hope that every problem has a solution."

Algebra: Geometry preparation continues this week as we look at equations of parallel and perpendicular lines, which were briefly discussed last semester. We will also learn to simplify radicals, which will be used in geometry when solving for sides of triangles.

Geometry: We have finished reviewing prior knowledge of 3D figures, and will now look at some new concepts: dilating and slicing 3D figures and rotating 2D shapes to create 3D shapes.

Tutoring: Thursday before and after school or by appointment. mlund@neisd.net

SCIENCE

Science may set limits to knowledge, but should not set limits to imagination.

-Bertrand Russell

We will continue working on our Physics unit to better prepare our students for high school Physics. We started with one dimensional kinematics, focusing on velocity, position, acceleration, and displacement.

Students will continue working on lab simulations where they can practice manipulating variables such as height, mass, velocity, to determine the effects on other variables. We will focus on how the laws of physics apply to everyday life, focusing on the following questions:

Tutoring is offered on Mondays and Fridays from 3:45-4:15.

We are Living History!

🌎👑☕⚔️📜🏭🏔️🚂☝️💥👇🗳️

Before we get to my normally scheduled update, just wanted to wish a happy teacher appreciation week to you. I know a lot of our DATA parents or families are teachers by profession, but "the parent is the child's first teacher." Thank you for letting us join your ever growing teacher-village and help your child grow on their journey to adulthood. Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!!

Back to our regularly scheduled programming: Howdy all! We're *just* under 100 days until the start of your historian's Freshman year!!!

This week your historian will take on a passion project that should take us to *almost* the end of the school year. They will get to choose an historical topic they want to research, and they will construct a digital museum, filled with artifacts related to their chosen topic. It is my hope that this project encourages their historical curiosity, as they've at least four more history class awaiting them.
