MATH

"The essence of math is not to make simple things complicated, but to make complicated things simple." ~ Stan Gudder

Algebra: Students will take the Algebra 1 STAAR EOC on Tuesday April 23. This is the required math EOC to graduate high school and so will be the last STAAR for math these students have to take! Please encourage them to get lots of rest this week.

Geometry: We have finished all concepts for the circles unit, and will be moving on to surface area and volume between testing. Students are taking the 8th grade STAAR test on Tuesday April 23. They passed this test in 6th grade, and should have no concerns about passing it this year. I have provided a review in DeltaMath that students can use to help relieve any test anxieties they may have.

Tutoring: Thursday before and after school or by appointment. mlund@neisd.net

SCIENCE

We have completed our STAAR Science test. Students worked so hard to get there and I am so proud of each of them!

We still have a month left of school! We will begin working on our pre-Physics unit to better prepare our students for high school Physics. We will be working on a project beginning next week where we build rollercoasters. We will focus on how the laws of physics apply to rollercoasters, while we keep the following questions in mind:

Tutoring is offered on Mondays and Fridays from 3:45-4:15.

U.S. History through 1877

We are Living History!

🌎👑☕⚔️📜🏭🏔️🚂☝️💥👇🗳️

History STAAR Conquered! One more STAAR to go, and that's standardized testing done. Until the May MAP tests...then we are officially done with standardized testing!

Despite being done with STAAR and 8th-grade TEKS, school is not yet over. We still have six more weeks! We have some exciting End of Year stuff planned (no spoilers!), but your historian needs to stay on the straight-and-narrow to enjoy them.

This week in class we will start our cumulative, end-of-year, US History project. A US History Yearbook! Your historian will use all that they have learned this year to summarize the highs and lows of US History from 1492 - 1877 in the format of a digital yearbook.

Tutoring is available Mondays, 7:45-8:20 am and 3:45-4:15. Students can also tutor during lunch every day, except Wednesdays

Have a wonderful week!
