MATH

"Mathematics may not teach us to add love or subtract hate, but it gives us hope that every problem has a solution."

Algebra: STAAR Review begins this week! We will review the most frequently tested concepts. Students will also look at their benchmark test results to help guide their independent practice time.

Geometry: More circles! We will look at theorems regarding Tangents and Secants through circles and how they relate to the lengths of line segments.

STAAR: All students will test on Tuesday April 23. Algebra students will take the Algebra EOC and Geometry students will take the 8th Grade Math STAAR. Students who would like extra practice may work in DeltaMath on the STAAR assignment.

Tutoring: Thursday before and after school or by appointment. mlund@neisd.net

SCIENCE

Trust yourself. You know more than you think you do. --Benjamin Spock

We have begun our Countdown to STAAR Review! For the next two weeks we will be reviewing all four science categories, these include:

 Category 1: Matter and Energy

Category 2: Forces and Motion

Category 3: Earth and Space

Category 4: Organisms and the Environment

The 8th grade Science STAAR test will be administered on April 16th, this will give us two weeks to review material from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Approximately 40% of the 8th grade STAAR test consists of 6th and 7th grade material and the other 60% is 8th grade.
We will be working on reviewing content through vocabulary games, stations, and interactive activities.

Tutoring is offered on Mondays and Fridays from 3:45-4:15.

Happy April! You officially have two more months with your 8th Grader!!

This week we'll start and finish Unit 8! Unit 8 is the smallest, it's about Reconstruction. We're going to look at Congress' plan for Reconstruction, as well as its successes, loopholes, and failures. Being the smallest unit, we're only going to study Reconstruction this week. On Thursday (4/4)  your historian will take their Unit 8 Quiz. Other than their US History STAAR, it will be the last formal assessment!!

Friday is our exciting Air Show Trip!

 See y'all there!

Mr. Lovett's Classes

Principles of Architecture:

Architecture students have been exploring tiny house designs and they have started designing their own tiny house models. This unit is a fantastic test to see how well they understand the importance of thinking, drawing, and modeling to scale.

Digital Media 2:

In April, we will be "emphasizing" the STAAR. I still need to think of a good name for it; however, clearly you can see we will be focusing on emphasis as a design principle (see what I did there?).
