ELAR

We will end our brief study of drama by examining a play excerpt in the STAAR format - and this is where we begin our official STAAR Review.  We continue this Review with the reading of a fiction text.

MATH

I hope you had a wonderful spring break! We are in the final push towards the end of the year. We have a few more concepts to learn then we will spend time summarizing and applying all the knowledge gained this year.

Algebra: We will test on exponential functions this Thursday. We will then begin our review of algebra to prepare for the STAAR EOC exam.

Geometry: This week we will examine angle relationships in circles, and practice with new vocabulary about circles: chords, secants and tangents. 

STAAR: All students will test on Tuesday April 23. Algebra students will take the Algebra EOC and Geometry students will take the 8th Grade Math STAAR. Students who would like extra practice may work in DeltaMath on the STAAR assignment.

We have begun our Countdown to STAAR Review! For the next two weeks we will be reviewing all four science categories, these include:


 Category 1: Matter and Energy

Category 2: Forces and Motion

Category 3: Earth and Space

Category 4: Organisms and the Environment 


The 8th grade Science STAAR test will be administered on April 16th, this will give us two weeks to review material from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Approximately 40% of the 8th grade STAAR test consists of 6th and 7th grade material and the other 60% is 8th grade.
We will be working on reviewing content through vocabulary games, stations, and interactive activities. 




Tutoring is offered on Mondays and Fridays from 3:45-4:15.

U.S. History through 1877

We are Living History!

Last week of March! And it's a short week!

 This week we'll be reviewing the causes of and the events of the Civil War. Your historian will take the Unit 7 Test this Wednesday over those topics. As per ushe', there is a Blooket in Classroom they can use to study, as well as my slides. They can also take their notes home to study. Thursday they'll be working on test corrections and Friday they'll be sleeping in, dreaming about our next unit!

Tutoring is available Mondays, 7:45-8:20 am and 3:45-4:15. Students can also tutor during lunch every day, except Wednesdays

AV Comm/Video Game Design

Greetings DATA Families!

AV COMM: Students are completing their modules on oral communications and public speaking. The participated in listening activities, learning about verbal and non-verbal techniques. Next week, they will be preparing for their first speech.

Video Game Design:  Students are exploring the functions and interfaces of Unreal Engine. In the upcoming nine weeks, they will plan, design, and code their first 3D video games. 

Tutoring is available Tuesday mornings and by appointment!

Mr. Lovett's Classes

Principles of Architecture: 

Students have begun a major project on the tiny home movement. This project will have students planning a tiny house from beginning to the very end which includes marketing their design!

Digital Media 2:

Digital Media students will be finishing up their Marching in Balance projects and putting final touches on an animation tutorial.
