Reading and Reflecting

We'll spend this week slowing things down as the semester comes to a close.

Honors students should have a book of their choice on hand for Monday, Thursday and Friday.  GT students should finish up reading Night by Tuesday, and then have a self-selected book on hand for Thursday and Friday as well.

On Tuesday, everyone will be prepping for our 8th grade field trip on Wednesday.

MATH

"Good mathematics is not about how many answers you know... It's about how you behave when you don't know."

We are finishing up the fall semester and it is time to review all that we have learned this year. All students will have a semester exam, as these are high school classes. The exam will make up 20% of their semester average.

Algebra: We will review graphing, writing, and solving linear functions as well as identifying key features of graphs. The fall semester exam will be Thursday December 14.

Geometry: We will first review coordinate geometry and angle relationships, then take the fall semester exam on Tuesday December 12. The remainder of the week will be spent on a project applying surface area.

Tutoring: Thursday before and after school or by appointment. mlund@neisd.net

SCIENCE

"The greatest discoveries often lie not in finding new things, but in seeing familiar things in new ways." - Alexander Fleming

Last week we finished up counting atoms in chemical formulas and determining whether chemical equations were balanced or unbalanced. We learned the law of conservation of mass and looked at both mass and atoms on both reactant and product side of chemical equations.

This week we will look at evidence of chemical reactions and complete stations over a 3 day period. We also have a field trip this week to Sea World. Students need to make sure they are completing any make up work on their own time, as they will not have time in class.

We will also test over the second half of our chemistry unit on Thursday. This exam will cover Chemical Formulas and Chemical Reactions.

Tutoring is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, students can attend from 7:45-8:15 am.

U.S. History through 1877

We are Living History!

📜📜📜📜📜📜📜📜📜📜📜

Week 17 and we did it! Our long and not-so-interesting government unit has come to an end! Your historian took their Unit 3 exam last Friday and will have the opportunity this week to do some test corrections on it to boost their grade.

Because this will be the last week before break, and it's only a four-day week with our trip to SeaWorld, we won't be doing anything new this week. Instead, we'll be using this as an opportunity to review the first three units that we've studied. One last chance to lock the info in your historian's brain before we move on to unit four in January. Only five more units to go!!!

Mr. Lovett's Classes

Principles of Architecture:

Students have completed all assignments I will be grading for the semester. If your child has missing work, this is their last opportunity to get it in. Unfortunately, I have a few students that are struggling. I will be available for tutoring ALL next week. Please check your student's grades in Skyward and have them complete any missing work. There isn't anything in there that they can't do from home. Next week students will be researching, sketching and then 3d modeling living rooms.
