"There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest."

- Elie Wiesel

Our general study of informational texts continues as we turn our focus to the Holocaust.  We'll examine various articles and their features through the lens of timelines, perspectives, and pivotal events.

GT classes will begin reading the novel Night by Elie Wiesel as a supplemental study.

MATH

"Good mathematics is not about how many answers you know... It's about how you behave when you don't know."

Wednesday, November 29 will be MAP testing for math. This is a chance for students to show growth from the beginning of the year.

Algebra: We will finish the semester with Unit F, Inequalities. Students will apply their knowledge of solving and graphing equations to solve and graph inequalities. The properties are very similar but the solutions will include a range or region of values.

Geometry: Unit 5 continues as we explore how transformations can maintain congruence, create similar figures, or distort. Students will apply transformations and look for patterns in how these affect the coordinates of a figure.

Tutoring: Thursday before and after school or by appointment. mlund@neisd.net

SCIENCE

What should you do if no one laughs at your chemistry jokes?

Keep telling them until you get a reaction.

I hope everyone had a restful and wonderful Thanksgiving break with their family.

We will continue our chemistry unit, focusing on chemical formulas and chemical reactions. We will practice counting atoms in chemical formulas by using both subscripts and coefficients. Students will have a unit test coming up over structure of the atom, Bohr models, reactivity of atoms, and the periodic table. Students need to be familiar with trends on the periodic table.

Tutoring is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, students can attend from 7:45-8:15 am.

U.S. History through 1877

We are Living History!

📜📜📜📜📜📜📜📜📜📜📜

Welcome back from Fall Break! Hard to believe that November is almost over! I hope you and your historian were able to rest up and enjoy spending some precious moments together. Their time being an 8th grader will be over in six months!

We're still on Unit 3: Early Government. Before break we talked about how America got its first and second Constitutions. The last thing we have to look at before this unit can come to a close is how our government works and the principles the Founding Fathers included in our government.  That's right, we'll be learning about every kid's favorite things! Republicanism, checks and balances, popular sovereignty, individual rights, seperation of power, limited government, and federalism!!!!

I am so excited for this unit to come to a close so that we can learn about the cool things Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, and Monroe did...

AV Comm/Video Game Design

Greetings DATA Families!
Have a great week!

AV COMM: Engaging in a multimedia journey, students will capture moments across the campus, at home, and in their daily experiences, curating a collection that reflects their creativity. The culmination of their efforts will be showcased in an eportfolio, providing a digital canvas for the display of their photographic work.

Video Game Design: Delving into the fascinating realm of video game design, students will embark on a historical exploration of the industry, tracing its evolution and milestones. This journey will seamlessly transition into an examination of the profound impact of technology on society within the context of the video game world.
