ELAR

Greetings, parents and students! I have already met many of you at contract signing night and summer social, but I am excited to start learning together. I hope everybody will come to us the first day of school having finished our summer reading book, Hatchet, by Gary Paulson (and hopefully remembering the eight parts of speech you learned in elementary school: nouns, verbs, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections).

Having established our routines and procedures, we will be getting into real academics this week. We will be introducing root words, setting up our interactive notebooks, and beginning our first unit of inquiry. We will also be doing some activities relating to our summer reading book, Hatchet, by Gary Paulson, including a Socratic seminar, and a chance to make some sparks with flint, as Brian did in the book.

Tech Apps w/ Mr. G

Hi, everyone! Mr. Gonzalez here.

This week's ridiculous name for a Wifi connection is "the LAN Before Time". (heh).

This week in Tech Apps, we will be going over classroom and school procedures, setting up our profiles, changing passwords, and taking typing assessments so kids can see how they improve over the coming months. I am adding students to my Google Classroom this week and this is where you can see all my important links, contact info, and video lessons at the top of my Classwork section. Please email me if you cannot access these links. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out! - Mr. G Contact: agonza33@neisd.net

Exploring
Multimedia

Hello!

Welcome to your 6th grade tech adventure! Before jumping in with our first piece of software, we'll get accustomed to what is likely to be a a whole new environment. Students will learn to navigate a district-managed high end computer lab stocked with professional-grade software, dual monitors and the responsibility for creating and managing your own project and resource files in both this and your Tech Apps class. I'm looking forward to another great year of having fun and being amazed by the creative energy your generation brings to the world of digital design!
