ELAR
Students (with parent approval) should have their classic novels chosen and their choice letters returned by Monday May 1st. There will be three classic novel choices:
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain
both Through The Looking Glass and What Alice Found There AND Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carrol (They are short books.)
A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
We will also be working on root words and writing skills.
Any student who has not finished their final homework (on Edgenuity) should finish it up ASAP. From now until the end of the school year, the only ELAR homework will be to finish anything that has not gotten finished in class and keep up with reading the chapters of the chosen classic novel.
Reminder: each student should be reading a self-chosen book for at least 200 minutes per week. 45-50 of these minutes will happen in class, but the other 150+ should happen at home, hopefully spread out over the week in 20-30+ minute chunks. This helps as much as or more than anything else we do at school.
Tutoring times: Thursday mornings: 7:45-8:15. I can be reached via Remind or by email at rwayme@neisd.net
MATH
6th Honors/GT
This week we will work on skills to help prep your student for the next year. The skills are TEKS we have already gone over but are very important to have for next year. The work is daily and students are expected to turn the problems in every day to me or the sub before they leave. Even if they are not done, students are expected to turn the work in. Each day will be new practice problems.

Tech Apps w/ Mr. G
Hi, everyone! Mr. Gonzalez here.
This week's ridiculous WiFi name is "For Whom the Belkin Tolls" (heh).
We are coming to the end of our curriculum in Tech Apps. Students have a document detailing what the final projects will be and also have a complete list of what terms to review for the multiple choice portion o their final. To get an idea of what they will do for the final, please ask your student to show you their work and their final overview document.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any other questions! - Mr. G

Multimedia
Multimedia
Students need to fill out their portfolio page for Android Programming by taking screenshots of their primary screens, recording a video of their apps in action, and creating a permanent link to their installable APK file so anyone who wants to try their application can point an Android device at their web page and download it. Snips of the MIT App Inventor interface, coding blocks written explanations of the processes involved will round out their final unit's representation on their Digital Portfolio. There are many other parts to finish, such as information and artifacts from their core classes, the Photoshop work they are doing in their Tech Apps class and links to important school-related websites and assets on their About page. This is the perfect time to review all the graphic headers and make sure every inch of every page looks great and is error-free. We'll be voting on the best portfolio's soon!
Appointments for tutoring are available Tuesday-Friday before school and Monday, Wednesday and Friday during lunch. Students are advised, if possible, to bring their lunch to school for appointments as it is otherwise difficult to get more than a few minutes of one-on-one instruction.
