First of all, let me introduce myself. I am Adam Wallis a Certificated Surveyor of Timber and Damp in Buildings (CSTDB) and I am registered as an independent PCA-accredited surveyor.

I started my career with an advanced-level bricklaying apprenticeship, which was completed over three years, and it was during my apprenticeship that my interest in buildings and construction was ignited. My interest and experience were further enhanced when I decided to join a property preservation company. During this time I achieved the ‘Property Care Association Qualified Technician’ (PCAQT) qualification and was awarded the prestigious accolade of National Technician of the Year after passing with the year’s highest exam results. Working as a technician allowed me to expand both my technical knowledge and practical skills.

I then took the qualification as a ‘Certified Surveyor of Timber and Damp in Buildings’(CSTDB) after sitting all three module exams over 2 consecutive days, something that is generally carried out over several months or even years.

As a CSTDB-qualified surveyor, I conducted surveys on a very diverse range of properties (from the smallest terraced cottage to huge commercial buildings) which involved identifying damp and timber-related defects and then recommending the appropriate remedial solutions where applicable.

My love of surveying continued, but I wanted more! I wanted to be able to offer honest, reliable and practical advice without being tied to the constraints of working for a contractor. Therefore, I decided to go it alone and become a PCA-registered Independent Surveyor. My ambition to work as a PCA Independent Surveyor coincided with the exciting opportunity of becoming the first-ever Franchisee of ‘Neil Marsden Associates Ltd’. Neil Marsden Snr is well known within the industry and is recognised as one of the country’s leading experts on Damp and Timber defects in buildings. I have been good friends with Neil now for several years after carrying out most of my studying with him as my tutor at the PCA. I am delighted to be working with Neil and my clients can rest assured that I will continue to deliver the same exacting standards that Neil demands of himself and his associates.

I will be pleased to carry out a detailed inspection with the utmost professionalism, honesty and integrity and provide honest and unbiased advice as to the cause and remedy of any damp-related issues I identify.
