About Me
My name is Tara Gupta. I am an 11 year old born in Jaipur but now I live with my parents and my brother in Bangalore. I love playing different games and sports like swimming and athletics, I also love art and I love music. Playing the piano, ukulele and singing are all hobbies. But most of all I love spending time with my family and my bestest friends - Maya, Myra and Miraya. I chose Self-esteem as I always doubt myself in everything I do and am never confident with my choice. This impacts me because when I doubt myself and don’t have confidence and faith in me, I can’t be happy with the decision I make. This leads to me stressing and my mental health gets affected. To deal with this, I often talk to my parents and play music to divert my mind. This is one thing I would like to change in myself, to become more self confident, in what I want to do and my decisions.
A peek into how I went about my journey.
We surveyed grade 5 students to understand their self-esteem. Here is the analysis
I started writing and planning for a research report. I was so tired, I could not focus on report writing. Instead, I ended up writing a personal narrative. A text form I have been struggling with.

TITLE : A thousand tears
MEDIUM : collage. magazine cutouts, thread, black pen, watercolor pencils
ARTIST STATEMENT :
The whole idea behind this artwork is how this girl is crying over her self image and is never confident with the decision she makes. Through this artwork I tried to show how people shed a thousand tears over stress, anxiety, depression, their self esteem and self image, which results in no self confidence and sadness. One word can also break someone's self esteem and confidence, but at the same time when you change it to a positive word it can build your self confidence and make you feel better about yourself.
I can connect to this as many times I lack confidence and I go through stress, and so through this artwork I wanted to show how people should stay confident about themselves and love themselves for who they are. I have used different coloured magazine cutouts to represent different elements in my work. There are different words and statements on the tear drops which are piercing her self esteem and self confidence and below that are positive statements which are building her self esteem. This artwork helped me understand the importance of self esteem to different people and also taught me to be confident with myself to take a small risk sometimes.
My Action is focused on Lifestyle choices like planning for breaks and playing the piano when I feel worked up and low. We also did read aloud a book Sonali wrote and I illustrated for to grade 3 North Campus and during our library class.
The following work was part of my research. We created ILO's to make sure we cover over complete understanding of LOI 2
