Boston University 1992
Selina at a Red lobster in 1992
During the 1990s, Selina moved from Singapore to Massachusetts where She attended the University of Boston along with her three older sisters. Her parents wanted her to have a prominent education and obtain an impressive Job. Then she could provide for her parents when they are too sick to work for themselves. At Boston University, She earned a bachelor of science and business administration and graduated in 1994. Living in the dorms was very similar to the living space at home because she was well aquatinted with the tight living quarters. She was a bit scared of her new roommate because she never had to share a room with a stranger before. In Singapore, there is no such thing as a sleepover, so it was a little odd for her to share a room with a soon to be friend. She picked Boston University because living in singapore which is 90% city, and Boston university being in a city just made sense.
Culture Shocks
During Selina's earlier life, her parents employed a maid who would cook and clean for them. In Singapore, many asian families hire malaysian workers to come over and work for them as maids. When Selina moved to the states, she didn't have a maid to clean or cook for her, so she had to do it herself in her college dorm.
"The first time I saw snow I was in awe. the feeling of snow is so soft and calming. It was something I've never felt before." -Selina Dauria
When Selina first came to the states she was happy to play in the snow for the first time. She thought that the change in season was like reading a book each chapter was a new season and every season was different and unique.
