Selina Dauria and her husband Thomas Dauria
These two people are Selina Dauria and her husband Thomas dauria. Their daughter is Samantha Dauria. Selina, who we will be focusing this project on, is an immigrant from Singapore. Born on February 28, 1973, she is Singaporean and her ancestors are from China. Her father was born in China and moved to Singapore when he was a young man and her mother was born in Singapore. She lived there until she was 19 years old before moving to the States. She went to boston university from 1990-94. She loved being part of the American life and stayed after college. Although there were many challenges that she faced such as a language and cultural barrier she found ways to cope in a new atmosphere.
Shown to the left are some attractions in Singpore. The first image is the Botanical Garden in Tanglin, Singapore. Singapore is a very industrized place where there are many skyscapers and business buidlings, so this garden is a great way for the people of Singpore to be closer to nature and admire earth's gifts. Second image is Sentosa which is a resort island dedicated to an amusement park and a getaway for people on vacation. It was originally a fishing village and a prisonor-of-war camp during the Japanese occupation (1942-1945). Last picture is the marina BAys sands mall located in Marina Bay sands, singapore. it is a mall that has an inside pool in the middle where you can go on a boat ride down the lagoon or shop at various stores. It also has an inside wax skating rink right next to a ginormous food court with some of the finest asian cuisines.
The distance from Singapore to Massachusetts is about 9,393 miles and 21 hours on a plane. To travel, one must cross over the North Atlantic Ocean. Singapore is located in south Asisa and is South of Malaysia and North of Indonesia.
