Irvine

After living in the Bay Area and “Casa Israelita” housing complex for 5 years, the Shemesh family moved to Irvine in Southern California. Here they got full American citizenship, and Sabrina's husband got promoted to the vice president of his company, alongside having their third kid - Tal. In Irvine Sabrina began to work at Staples in order to get better at everyday conversational English. Although America has so much to offer, and Sabrina was able to feel extremely welcomed in communities such as “Casa Israelita” in the Bay Area, and eventually Newton, this was not the case for Irvine. “Southern Californians … were not really approving of any other different culture than them. And I felt it.” Sabrina said.
