Reason behind move
Monica and her husband moved because he had a work opportunity and wanted to take it. The main difference between Monica's story and other immigrants is that she was not "running away from poverty, and dangerous cities, from crime, and ... not running away from my country."
Differences
Her immigration was different because she was legal. Her and her family had working visas, the company sponsored them. The people that Monica knew that also immigrated from Mexico City were in the same position as Monica and Miguel.
Who welcomed you?
The company that hired Miguel was very welcoming to them when they moved. Miguel had a close relationship with his boss who was "helpful and kind." Monica also met parents through her daughters' schools and "mingled with the moms." She started making friends when Miranda started kindergarten. Monica "never felt unwelcome."
