Australia was good for Mark, it was the polar opposite to Russia in regards to weather yet the two nations shared many of the same morals. Both Russia and Australia had a heavy emphasis on community and a person's place in that community. These ideas of community are heavily ingrained into Mark's personality to this day, in fact the value he has for community is one of the main problem he has with America, a nation he believes has little regard for the value of community. Mark made many friends in Australia which made his entire Middle School/early High School experience quite positive. He often tells stories of his many adventures that took place in Australia with his friends. I wanted to know what his favorite memory of this time was, he said “There was a lot man, my friends and I would just f*** around and have fun all day, we would go cow tipping and make fires. One time I nearly burnt a forest down from lighting a shrub on fire.” Mark would live in Australia until he was 16, at this time his family decided to move back to America, again this was for Ivan’s work.
