Here at Horizons-On-The-Hudson Magnet School, we pride ourselves on building character and integrity in our young scholars. As an International Baccalaureate school, we strive to embed the “Attitudes” and “Traits” of an IB mindset into our curriculum on a daily basis. Scholars are nominated by their peers monthly for exhibiting the IB Profile trait of the month. These scholars are celebrated during our IB Town Hall to which parents of the nominated scholars are invited. IB Town Halls occur the last Friday of every month and will be held virtually this year.

The International Baccalaureate® aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

The Programme of Inquiry (POI) shows what the students are studying throughout the year. Each grade creates a POI around six themes of global significance that provide the framework for exploration and study:
who we are
were we are in place and time
how we express ourselves
how the world works
how we organize ourselves
