Jazz Theory and Ear Training Exam

On Wednesday, August 5, all incoming graduate and undergraduate Jazz Studies students are scheduled to take the Jazz Theory and Ear Training Exam at 10:00am to help us place you in our curriculum. We’ll email the test to your NEC email an hour before the test is scheduled to begin. 

If you have access to a printer, you can print out the test. And if you don’t have access to a printer, you can write your answers on a separate piece of paper (manuscript paper would work best, since some of the questions involve music notation). After completing your test, you can either scan it or take a picture of it and email your answers to jazz@necmusic.edu.

The Zoom Link will be sent to your email about an hour before the exam.

How to Sign Up:

There is no sign-up for this exam. Instead, be on the lookout for the exam to be sent to your NEC email on exam date (1 hour before the exam begins).
