Transfer Tasks
Complete Procedures are a Part of Life to begin thinking about which procedures you want to implement in your classroom.
Identify 5 major procedures that will be necessary in your classroom that you can train your students on the first day of class. Share these with your mentor.
One should be the start-up procedure for the first five minutes (a self-starter/bellringer).
In choosing the other 4, think about things that will be done on a daily basis in your classroom and create procedures for them.
The last five minutes is a good one to focus on so that students know you are the one that excuses the class not the bell.
Put a copy of your procedures in your New Teacher Binder to bring to New Teacher Induction in August.
Complete the Classroom Management Plan Template. Share it with your mentor. This will be a great resource to you as you write your Disclosure/Welcome Letter.
Watch videos related to Classroom Management strategies (see "Essential Basics Videos" ). Make note of which specific strategies you'd like to implement during your first days of school.
Reflection: What are your biggest concerns about classroom management? Have you established rules and consequences/rewards that will work for you? What additional support do you need from your mentor? What "Classroom Management" items do you have questions about? Email your response to your mentor.
